Toronto – Indo Caribbean Golden Age Association (ICGAA) celebrated Mother’s Day and Indian Arrival Day on the 5th May at the Cedarbook Community Centre.
The seniors modelled Indian fashionwear similar to what guests would wear to attend a wedding and to mark the occasion of Indian Arrival Day. The garments and jewellery worn by the women reflected what was used in the early indentureship period and what was available to them in Guyana in that era.
The theme was appropriate as ICGAA members were celebrating the upcoming wedding of two of their volunteers, Mohan Persaud who volunteered for eighteen years and Sharon Ramnaraign who served about six years. It was a joyous event for all as there was a lot to celebrate.
The seniors were quite active on the dance floor with music provided by popular musi-cian David Singh. A delicious meal was served which was provided by Doreen and Mack Gurdial and Latchmin and Sharma Narine.
