AFEY brings Xmas cheer to 500 kids
AFEY's Xmas party reaches a pitch as the Raptors Mascot makes entry.

Torn wrapping paper littered the floor, serving as evidence of a good time.
More than 500 kids received a dose of Christmas cheer – alongside a visit from Santa – at the 15th annual Advocates for Etobicoke Youth (AFEY) Children’s Christmas Party in Rexdale on Dec 7.
The party was held at Woodbine Banquet Hall for kids, ages three to 12, and their parents from the North Etobicoke area.
Volunteers and sponsors ensured the event was executed flawlessly.
The 2019 NBA Champion Toronto Raptors mascot, The Raptor, even popped in for some holiday fun, while a steel pan band had everyone jammin' to festive tunes.
The buffet-style meal included fries, chicken fingers, pasta, hot dogs, fruit, brownies, chocolate milk – all the kids' favourites.
There were stations set up for face-painting, balloons, and photos with Santa (photos were printed on the spot).
Dhaman Kissoon co-founded the initiative and co-chairs the event in partnership with Toronto Police's 23 Division, with support from local businesses and professionals.
Many kids left the hall on big yellow school buses – but not before getting a chance to go home with a bonus gift from the surplus of toys.

Indo Caribbean seniors share the Christmas spirit

Toronto – The Indo Caribbean Golden Age Association ( ICGAA) held its 28th annual Christmas celebration this year on Sunday, December 15 at the Cedarbrook Community Centre, located at 91 Eastpark Blvd., Scarborough.
Like past celebrations, this year the seniors had great fun. There were carol singing, Christmas songs and live music by Suresh Hanoman, dancing, and a visit from Santa Claus. Prizes were awarded to couples and singles for their spot dancing. A wonderful time was had by all, and everyone was served a sumptuous meal, together with dessert, drinks and tea and coffee along with seasonal goodies.
ICGAA started in 1992 primarily to give seniors from the Caribbean an opportunity to socialize as a group. It had its first Christmas celebrations in 1992 and has been facilitating six events every year since inception. These events have become very popular as they provide a venue for seniors who share the same culture and background to mix and mingle with others, make friends, and have fun.
The Association membership includes Hindus, Muslims and Christians, and it is funded by a small membership/attendee fee and generous donations by sponsors from the community and through regular donations.
Indo Caribbean Golden Age Association is a Federally registered Not-For-Profit organization that meets all its fiscal and legal obligations annually. The Association welcomes new members, sponsors and volunteers. One of its prominent maxims is: When we come together we all grow.
