Service to honour the memory
of the Rambihars

Toronto – On June 2, 2018, the Rambihar family gathered at the Vedic Cultural Center with friends and community members for a special memorial service marking the anniversaries of the passing of their beloved mother Iris, father William and brother Ian.
An inspiring service celebrating their lives was conducted by Pt. Dave Ramoutar, Pta. Jasodra Prasad with some assistance from Rabi, Shara and Reba Nauth. Recitals, readings and speeches by most of the children were demonstrative of the family’s emphasis on education and self-development.
A touching keynote speech was delivered by the youngest daughter Sharon who reflected on their outstanding lives and highlighted their pervasive impact on the lives of the children, grands, and great-grands.
Sharon expressed her love, praise, and gratitude to her parents for providing an excellent lifestyle and building a reputable name in Guyana based on family values, academic excellence, principles, compassion and spirituality. Her mother was remembered for her brilliance and drive to overcome the struggles of her time providing her children with the best opportunities. She was especially thankful for the unique relationship they had, decades of togetherness keeping the unity of family strong.
Sharon remembered her dad as a legend, a man of excellence with a zest for life, work and ethics.
She recalled her brother and true friend as a brilliant individual with a passion for engineering, cars and politics. He served as the Head Boy at Queen’s College and brought valuable attributes that complemented the family.
Dr. Vivian Rambihar, Toronto cardiologist, displayed his painting of the family home in Prashad Nagar and reminisced on the special memories created there. He spoke about his parents’ legacy of hard work and dedication which is being seen today in the younger generations. He emphasized creating good memories daily and maintaining our cultural background.
Dr. Brian Rambihar travelled from England to attend the auspicious event. He spoke fondly of his mother, father, and brother stressing that they are still alive as their characteristics are seen in everyone.
Dr. Compton Rambihar coordinated floral shirts with his brothers as a tribute to his mother’s love for flowers. He recalled wonderful childhood memories of her, his dad and Ian. He concluded with a heartfelt poem and wishing that their souls rest in peace.
TAS Vice President Adit Kumar thanked Rabi and Sharon Nauth for hosting the event and their financial contribution to the Vedic Cultural Center. He dedicated a plaque in their honour for permanent display in the mandir.
